Sunlight glowing across the Pacific at sunset in Santa Teresa

Nicoya Peninsula · Costa Rica

Santa Teresa

Pacific sunsets. Tropical greenery. A little more room to simply be.

Why this place

Where the ocean sets the pace

Santa Teresa is special because of how it feels — wild, beautiful, and a little removed from the rush of everyday life. On Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, it’s a place where the jungle meets the ocean, surfers follow the waves, and sunset becomes something you stop everything to watch.

The beaches

Wide stretches of sand, warm Pacific water, and room to walk, breathe, and simply be. The Baya House is close to the beach and La Lora surf break, with tide pools nearby to explore when conditions allow.

The rhythm

Mornings outdoors, unhurried meals, salty hair, and evenings shaped around the setting sun. On this west-facing coast, watching the light change over the ocean can become a ritual all its own.

The connection to nature

The sound of the surf, tropical greenery, and changing light make ordinary moments feel memorable. Beach time, local cafés and yoga studios sit side by side, with everyday essentials within walking distance of The Baya House.

The people

Costa Rican locals, surfers, artists, travellers, and wellness practitioners bring different energies to the community. It’s a meeting place for people drawn to the ocean and a different pace of life.

The earthy character

Beautiful boutique stays and wonderful food sit alongside dusty roads and untamed tropical surroundings. It isn’t perfectly polished, and that’s part of its appeal. There’s space to feel a little freer and reconnect with what brings you joy.

The Pacific is beautiful and powerful. Surf and currents vary; seek local advice before swimming, surfing or exploring tide pools.

The Nicoya connection

A peninsula known for its Blue Zone

Nicoya is internationally known for research into communities where people have lived unusually long lives. The region’s Blue Zone story invites us to think about everyday movement, connection, purpose and the way we spend our days.

Santa Teresa is on the Nicoya Peninsula. The specific Blue Zone area described by Costa Rica’s tourism board comprises Nicoya, Santa Cruz, Hojancha, Nandayure and Carrillo — not Santa Teresa itself. Our connection is to the wider peninsula, not a claim that this retreat offers longevity or health benefits.

An invitation to slow down, connect and savour the everyday.

Lush tropical palms and rainforest foliage

Your own corner of Santa Teresa

For our WINGS retreat, this is a beautiful foundation: the setting itself invites us to slow down, open up, and make room for something new. For seven nights, The Baya House is our home — tropical gardens, a shared pool and the coast close by. Between our creative sessions and shared experiences, there’s time to let Santa Teresa become part of your own story.
